Detailed Description

Lois Graessle, one of our new Teaching Fellows, is offering Meeting Together, her most recent book, to staff and students at a substantial discount – and 50% of student sales will go to this year’s student charities.

In her keynote speech at graduation last year, on “Mess and Meetings”, she challenged all of us in the messy worlds of public, voluntary and community service to see any meeting as an arena that challenges us personally and enables us to make a contribution.

Our working lives, our lives as staff, students and researchers, our lives in all sorts of communities are all built around meetings. Presenting a research proposal to a conference or a budget cut to a staff team, interviewing for research or preparing for a job interview are all meetings.

We often struggle with the number of meetings and resent the time given to them. Meeting Together is a book that takes an unusual look at the process of meetings, their preparation, conduct and follow-up. It will offer you thoughtful, insightful and often humorous perspectives on how to get more from your meetings, both personally and collectively. It reminds you that even mundane meetings can have a touch of magic.

This short book is full of drawings by the well-known cartoonist Steven Appleby and stories and activities to support you in developing your insights and skills.

The book, which normally sells for £25, is offered to staff for £10 and students for £5 (50% of which will go to Bucks student charities).
